Holly-day season is here!

Well, our connect group was a success but the semester has ended, now the holidays holly-days are upon us!  We are psyched and ready for a wonderful season of celebrations!  Some travel, Sue's mission trip to Mexico, Megan going to Spain, and lots of food and fun!  Check in with us if you get a chance - we'd love to hear from you!

Our daughter is 20 years old today!  She is doing well in college and work and is enjoying her activities.  Megan is looking forward to traveling to Spain to spend the holidays with our family in Madrid, which should be a lot of fun.  Go, Megan! 

Fall in Georgia

The leaves are beautiful in our neighborhood.  We're having a great time running to and fro and having all our fun.  Hope you're enjoying the season, too! 

Fall is here!

The leaves are staying to change, the kids aware out of school, and the weather is getting weird - fall is here! 

Sue is busy interpreting and taking care of us, the boys are going to enjoy a week out of school, and I am working for no pay during the government shutdown.  Life is good!

Our youngest child is 12 today - woohoo!  We are having a sleep-over party for him with about 8 boys spending the night!  Should be a lot of fun...

Busy, busy...

Life keeps rolling along at our house.  Sue is running around working, helping Anne, and taking care of me and the kids.  I am working, traveling a little, and doing my thing.  Stephen and Kevin are back in to the swing of the school year.  Megan is back in college and doing well.  And Jacob moved to Atlanta and is busy with his life.  Ah, life is good...

Anne is back at her home

After the long ordeal of recovering from a stroke she is finally back in her apartment.  She blames Sue and I for the whole thing and is very angry about everything that has happened, which is understandable.  It's tough when someone you've helped treats you the way she is treating us but we know that we are doing the right thing in helping her.  Pray that Anne does what she is supposed to do to stay healthy and not fall back in to the bad habits she had that led to her having to go to the hospital in the first place.

She was moved from the hospital to a rehab center this week.  She is recovering well from the stroke but still can't feel when she swallows something and it goes down the airway.  They are going to work on strengthening her tongue and throat muscles as well as teach her how to administer her medicine through her stomach tube.  God is helping her heal well! 

Had a nice vacation

We had a great vacation this summer.  We got to go to Florida and stay with my parents, then went to Universal Studios and had a great time riding rides, went to Daytona Beach for an afternoon, and just relaxed at the house.  It was fun! 

Anne still in hospital

Our friend and had a stroke on Wednesday night. we had ever taken from our house to the hospital in an ambulance. The stroke was in her middle brain so she still has good cognitive ability, but she has lost the use of her right arm and most of the use of her right leg. She has a lot of difficulty swallowing and is going to have to have a stomach feeding tube a surgically inserted. 
she is at Southern Regional Medical Center, still in ICU today but should be up on the third floor in physical therapy probably next week. If you want to send her a card send it to our address and we'll be happy to deliver it to her. And if you get a chance go by the hospital and visit her.  It would really boost your spirits.

Please pray for a speedy recovery. 

Last day of school!

Paula, Stephen, and Kevin are very excited that school is ending.  Paula has a test but the boys just have goof-off days today.  I hope everyone has fun!

Today is Paula's 16th birthday - woohoo!  She's having getting through the end of the school year and getting geared up to go back to Spain.   We will be taking her out to Red Lobster to celebrate tonight.  Happy birthday, Paula! 
 

Happy birthday, Jacob!

Our oldest son turns 21 today - woohoo!  He is doing so well, getting good grades in college, working, and taking on more and more responsibility.  He is planning on moving to Atlanta over the summer, which will be a big change, and is geared up to finish his Bachelor's degree in Psychology by the end of December.  Sue and I are very proud of him!

Our 3rd child is 14 today - woohoo!  He is doing well in school, singing well in the youth band, and an all-around good guy.  He's gotten tall, now taller than both Susan and I, and is getting stronger, too.  We're taking him and some of his friends to see Iron Man 3 and having barbecue today to celebrate.  Happy birthday, son!

We're celebrating earth day with an outdoor fire and grilled steaks!  Hope your celebration is as great as this and that you are doing well. 

Spring break at our house

So Sue took Paula, Stephen, and Kevin to Iowa to visit with Dan and Lori, which went really well.  Then they drove south to visit with Sey and Ana as well as Taylor and Libby, which went really well.  Along the way they stopped and saw the Parthenon in Nashville, went on the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, and ate barbecue in Kansas City.  What a great trip!  I'm looking forward to having them back home so the house isn't so quiet...

Jacob, Megan, Jojo, and I have had a busy but quiet week with lots of work, homework, walking, and sleeping going on.  Sounds boring but that's our day-to-day life. Oh, well...

Sue is enjoying being with Dan and Lori in Iowa while me and the older kids are getting with my brother and his family.  Fun stuff! 

Busy time at our house

Man, keeping up with everybody's activities is challenging this time of year.  Paula in soccer, Megan in school and working, Jacob in school and working 2 jobs, Stephen and Kevin in school, youth, karate, and all the other things they do, and Sue and I pursuing our careers keeps up hopping.  It's a lot of fun, but very tiring. 

The kids are excited about the upcoming spring break trip, but I will be working so can't go.  Pray for everyone's safety as we hurtle through the excitement of life!

She's another year older and wiser and more beautiful than ever!  Due to our family schedule we'll be celebrating all week but that's OK.  Love you, baby!

Tough time at our church

The youth pastor at our church is leaving to start a church, and this is causing some turbulence in our family at home as well as at church.  Please pray as we all ride the waves his leaving is generating and ask the Lord to guide everyone to just what He wants us doing. 

Happy 2013!

We had a great time ringing in the New Year with family - first Paula's family over in Spain via Skype, then with Michael and Claudia and our nephews.  What a fun night! 

We're looking forward to all that God has for us in the coming year - it should be a big adventure!
